Expert evaluations to facilitate student success

Insightful Evaluation Professionals specialize in psycho-educational evaluations and can evaluate for learning disabilities, autism, emotional disturbances, intellectual disabilities, ADHD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia. We also complete functional behavior assessments to analyze the function or the ‘why’ of a child’s behavior. ERMHS evaluations, or Educationally Related Mental Health Service Evaluations, are also available to look into all areas of social and emotional well being and how that might be impacting a student’s education or educational performance. Counseling and hourly psychologist support is also available.

What are psycho-educational evaluations?

A psycho-educational evaluation is a comprehensive assessment of a student's cognitive, academic, and socio-emotional functioning. These evaluations provide helpful insight to parents and schools so they can understand the unique strengths, challenges, and potential of each student. These evaluations can also be used to determine if a student is eligible for special education.

Typically these evaluations include the following components: background and developmental history, cognitive/intelligence assessments, processing tests, academic achievement, attention/executive functioning, emotional/behavioral functioning, and a dyslexia analysis.

We will present results that make it very clear and easy to comprehend why a child might be struggling within their academic performance and different areas of their life, and provide recommendations to support them in their educational and home setting. We also shed light on all of the positives and strengths that a student has, and how we can use those strengths to better other areas of their lives. We complete timely evaluations and always meet legal deadlines. We are very responsive to emails and phone calls and will respond within 24 hours.

Dr. Alexandra Sparks, PsyD

My name is Alexandra Sparks and I have been a practicing school psychologist since March 2015. I earned my Master’s in School Psychology from National University and my doctorate in Educational Psychology from Alliant International University. My dissertation was focused on the Overidentification, Underidentification, and Misidentification of English Language Learners in Special Education. I am bilingual in English and Spanish. I have supported students virtually and in-person across all ages (2-21) with various disabilities. I hold current psychological licenses in California and Tennessee. I have worked in many Title I schools with large immigrant populations, as well as schools with most of their students that have families from a very high socioeconomic status. I specialize in bilingual evaluations and ensuring that students are accurately identified for special education services. I work collaboratively with parents and the other members of the IEP team to ensure that all perspectives are considered and all concerns are addressed. I believe that all children can learn and thrive when they are given the appropriate support and services. Children are more than a test score, and my reports focus not only on what children need help with, but also capture the student’s personal strengths.

Brianna Tarr

My name is Brianna Tarr and I am a school psychologist with almost a decade of service in the field, supporting hundreds of children of all ages (2-21) with varying disabilities. I have worked in many states and currently hold active licenses in California, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and Nevada. My journey began with a desire to make a positive impact on developing minds, and to help parents gain a more comprehensive understanding of their child’s ability and learning style. My specialty is in psychoeducational evaluations, which allows me to create personalized interventions and support strategies that foster learning in an environment where every student can thrive. Beyond the scores, I prioritize building rapport and trust with students, parents, and teachers that I work with to ensure they feel heard and understood throughout the evaluation process. This allows us to collaborate and create a plan for helping their student/child reach their full potential in the school setting and in life.
